Open water, all winter long.

A heated bird bath that keeps water ice-free on the coldest days, so the birds keep coming.

Winter's hardest find is water.

Feeders are easy to fill in January. Liquid water is not. When ponds and puddles freeze, a heated bath becomes the busiest spot in the yard.

  • Plug it in

A grounded outdoor outlet is all it needs. Use an outdoor-rated extension cord if the outlet is far away.

  • The thermostat takes over

It heats only when the water nears freezing, so it is not running all day.

  • Watch them arrive

Chickadees, cardinals, juncos and more stop by to drink and bathe all winter.

Questions

Will it make the water hot?

No. It keeps the water just above freezing so it does not ice over.

Does it run all the time?

No. The thermostat switches the heater on only when the water gets cold enough to freeze.

What do I plug it into?

A grounded outdoor outlet, ideally GFCI-protected. The cord is about 3.6 ft, so most yards need an outdoor-rated extension cord.

Can I leave it out in summer?

Yes. Unplug it and use it as a regular bird bath.
